Santigold formerly known as Santogold, in case people didn’t fully realize the name change, which apparently some people weren’t at the Sasquatch! Music Festival, put on probably one of my favorite performances all weekend. This was one of the few sets that I got to enjoy from start to end. This is officially the first tour where she’s traveling with a full band and she took advantage by playing a song from her first band that she was in a few years ago. This sounds cheesy, but I kinda got goose bumps watching homegirl as she commanded the stage with ease and her backup dancers / singers brought back memories of Public Enemy-esque deal, minus the Black Panther look and substitute that with gold jackets. She offered a word of advice for all would-be up and commers in the industry: “Don’t eat Burger King before you perform, we’ll see if I puke”.
