So this week’s Throwback Thursday comes via a conversation I was having with KB Fam, Hi-Def. We were discussing how we never like the same music and how it would be amazing if we ever did find something we liked that it would be like worlds colliding. This lead to us setting a goal for 2009, find a song that we both like. A few minutes later I sent her a link of Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” and she cursed me out hard and gave me some crap about me not trying, damn women. Anyways it was so bad that minutes later when I did send through a legit link she immediately hit me back with the response “If I get rickrolled you’re so f**ked”. But let’s get to the topic at heart, Rick Astley.
Honestly, how can you not love this mans music? With songs like “Whenever You Need Somebody”, “Together Forever” and “Never Gonna Give You Up”, alright I just realized all these “hits” are all cheesy love joints, but hey that was the era we were all in people. His main peak time frame was between 1987 – 1989, after that he seriously fell off and his 3rd to 5th albums would never see the amount of success that his first two brought him. But of course everyone remembers him for the song “Never Gonna Give You Up”, the video was next level. Bad dancing, check, head to toe blue denim outfit, check, really really bad dancing, or is that shuckin’ and jivin on Rick’s part?, check. Refresh your memory below and see the awesomeness.
Side note: I found this really really ill Photoshopped picture of Rick Astley in a 007 poster, I seriously almost lost it laughing so hard.
