August is a cruel month. While stores are all about fall/winter fashions, the weather is still too hot dive into the new trends. So right now, I’m looking for pretty summer pieces that easily transition into your fall/winter wardrobes, and this Goldie Cover-up by Brette Sandler definitely fits the bill.
This dress is actually sold as a swimwear cover-up, but I think it’s much too pretty and delicate to just cruise the beach in. Made of a beautiful fushia-dyed silk, this dress features an embroidered yoke, which no doubt adds some vintage interest. As well, the ruching at the bust and back definitely give this dress a flattering shape, while being super comfortable.
This dress would look great when the whether gets cold with a pair of black opaque tights or leggings thrown on underneath, a pair of black patent mary-janes and a cardigan over top! Plus, that bright flash of color will no doubt turn heads when you pair it up with the more dark and dismal colors of winter.
Originally $264, this dress is on sale for just $79.20! Hurry over to Shopbop before they run out of your size!
New video from Big Boi, one half of Outkast, featuring Mary J. Blige with a cameo from Dj Drama in the intro and for the tech nerds a Nokia E71 also makes an appearance. The single is off of the upcoming album Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, no released date announced yet, but should be out sometime soon.Video is directed by Bryan Barber, who has also worked with G-Unit, Kanye West, numerous Outkast videos and a video that my company could’ve sponsored but took a pass on for no apparent good reason, oh yeah thats right, we don’t like exposure…FAAAAAK! Anyways that said video is “International Players Anthem” by UGK and Outkast. Yes I was pissed.
The video is talking about the current situation in the United States and is calling for people to make a change by voting this November for Obama.
I’m thinking this bag is aptly named. It’s the Gucci Hysteria shoulder bag. This is the kind of bag women fight over and covet. This colour and style is going to be knocked off for fall, watch and see. The cost of the real thing in grape suede with a genuine metal Gucci crest? $1,350 US. I really can’t say enough about the colour. LOVE the colour. And the shape.
I last mentioned about Joey Roth’s Sorapot back in November. I was competely mesmerized by its form. The newly redesigned Sorapot comes in a mirror finish that can only be acheived by hand polishing. In addition to the newly revised Sorta pot is also a pair of insulated glass tea cups. Finally, there is a teak finished cradle for the Sorapot. The mirror polished Sorapot is available now, whereas the tea cup set and cradle will be released in Fall.
Make the leap to see shots of the tea cup set and cradle.
The Roots, easily one of my favorite Hip Hop groups of all time, have been a consistent main stay in the game. Their first album, Organix, debuted in ‘93. The album released in London and sold at their live shows, this grind helped them sell 150,000 copies and labels in the US took notice. This lead to the album Do You Want More?!!!??! and features one of my top Hip Hop songs “Proceed”. The next album was released in ‘96 and is easily top 10 - 15 on my list, Illadelph Halflife. This album helped break them into the mainstream, as they were always critically acclaimed, but never had the mainstream success. One of the all time best hip hop videos came from this album and that was for the song “What They Do”. The video was always thought of as The Roots making fun of the cliches in Hip Hop videos, but it was later revealed that the video was actually poking fun at Rock videos. The video was directed by Charles Stone, not sure who he is, well he’s the dude that did the whole “Whassup!” Budweiser commercials and director of AJK’s favorite movie of all time, that’s right Paid in Full.

The dudes over at Gizmodo have gotten their hands on the new T-Mobile Sidekick 2008 and given it the run through and posted a review. The Sidekick 2008 follows up the Sidekick LX and Sidekick Slide in the series and sports upgrades such as a 2.0 megapixel camera, 2.6 inch display, video recording/playback and a smaller body. It’s a shame the folks up north in Canada don’t get these phones, the last Sidekick we got was the first one ever released and was dubbed the HipTop. The thing was massive, I remember a buddy of mine asking me why I was carrying my video game system with me. Haha…
Anyways the review is positive and the final verdict: definitely worth purchasing or upgrading. Read the rest of the review here: Gizmodo T-Mobile Sidekick 2008 Review.
If you’re sucker for attractive packaging like myself, Hint Water should pique your interest. Currently, they are offered in commercial fridges along the West Coast, but are also available online. For personal reasons, I’d stay away from the honeydew-hibiscus. However, if I had to choose a poison, it would be the watermelon, cucumber, pear or tropical punch.
