Nas has officially changed the name his latest album by renaming it to Nas.
A representative for Def Jam has confirmed to EW.com that hip-hop artist Nas has made an eleventh-hour decision to change the title of his new album from N—– to simply Nas. – EW.com
It seems that L.A. Reid and label execs reneged on the statement that was made to MTV back in October when L.A. Reid said “Anything Nas wants to do, I completely stand beside him. Nas is prolific, he’s prophetic, he’s a genius, an amazing artist of respect. So, while I’m not sure exactly all that [the title] entails, I know it’s smart, so I stand behind him. That’s real.”
The mainstream was going to have a problem with this for sure and that effectively would have affected Def Jam’s bottom line at the end of the day. Hence the pressure on Nas to change the title, but still he should’ve stuck to his word on this one.
