This summer, even more so than summers of recent memory, is all about the dress. Dresses for every occasion, every time of day and everywhere. And there is plenty to pick from. I’m really noticing ankle length dresses are back in big way this season, which is sweet if you’re a tall person, unlike some of us. Bohemian prints are really hot, especially in the longer length dresses. (That would be the Tara Matthews example, above). Feminine details like ruffles, bows and the cascade of extra fabric are also popular. And, when in doubt, pick something in a vibrant, eye popping hue like the off the shoulder cut from Robert Rodriguez after the jump. The T-shirt style mini is still a good choice, along with the draping, looser styles we all love with tights the rest of the year. Another interesting fabric is the dip and dye print, where the dress starts out one colour and ends up another. If it’s all too much, fall back to the classic colour combo of black and white in wild print. I’ve done the hard work by compiling what I see as the prime examples of major summer trends. All you need to do is find a reasonable facsimile. Pics after the jump.
