Massimo Vignelli’s 1972 NYC subway diagram was hailed as an instant classic, with clean colored lines, type set in Helvetica, and paths running on 45- and 90-degree angles. Vignelli has revisited his famous, ultra-collectible plan, taking into account more than 30 years’ worth of changes. Available in a limited edition of 500 and signed by Vignelli himself, the New York City Subway Diagram 2008 by Vignelli Designs ($300) is a 36″ x 45″ collectible — classic!. Unfortunately if you didn’t already cop one chances are it’ll be extremely difficult to find one as they have all sold out.

  1. francis NYC Map Print Dress | Killahbeez commented:

[...] When something this clean and sweet comes along, you sit up and take notice. I’ve always been a fan of design that hints at detail and steps outside the norm. This dress by francis has a familiar silhouette, but with a vintage print. The New York City subway map. My eyes are generally always drawn towards anything with colour. Easily distracted, perhaps. But with this dress, it works. Upon closer inspection, you can study the map details or marvel at the adorable pleating. This isn’t the first time that Killahbeez has featured a NYC Subway Map design. Our very own DT write a piece on Massimo Vignelli’s 1972 NYC subway diagram, found here. [...]
