NYC, cancel any plans you have for this Saturday afternoon, as Ft. Greene will be bringing it to you live. Known for its free summer concerts and shows, Ft. Greene park will be showcasing Brooklyn’s own Talib Kweli. We saw Talib get down a few weeks ago at Nokia, but it’ll be nice to see him in his element. Also on the bill is Marco Polo, who just dropped his latest album “Port Authority.” Son spits fire on this album, so don’t sleep on his live performance, either. As with other Ft. Greene concerts, this is a free event.
And if you haven’t peeped the sneaker movie “Just for Kicks,” then the film’s screening this Saturday at the festival is a must. Our girl Alex was the producer of this documentary on the role of hip hop in the then burgeoning sneaker craze of the 80s and 90s. The movie was very well done, and I highly recommend it to any sneaker enthusiast.
Not to mention two of our favorite restaurants will be reppin’ hardbody with the cooking: Red Bamboo and Rice.
