So my man Moni, hit you up with some memories. I’m about to do the same. When I was a youngin’ my folks listened to a lot of different music, hell my dad even has a Randy Travis album, but my mom was more into the ’80s pop / freestyle. What’s ’80s freestyle you ask, well it’s a mix of electronic music influenced by Latin Americans, also known back in the day as Latin Hip Hop.
I can remember my moms driving me to figure skating practice, hey I took it cus it helps with stability and balance for hockey, and blasting Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam, TKA, Expose, etc etc. One of those songs was this here. Debbie Deb: Look out weekends.
Years and years later she heard a song I listened to back in college and she quickly pointed out the sample. Actually she constantly points out samples to me when she hears a hip hop song that I’m listening to, now thats a fuckin’ cool mom.
